Help me decide on a logo…
Since I moved into the studio and put up 2 new websites I have decided that it’s time to change my logo. I love the one I have but I can’t get it to do all the things I want it to.
Here are a few new ones. They are all pretty close. I would like to know what everyone thinks. Leave a comment with the one you like the most.

2009 Seniors Wanted From All Schools…
We are still looking for a few 2009 Senior Reps.
We just aren’t looking for Grand Forks and East Grand Forks, it’s ALL schools. If you are interested in becoming a 2009 Senior Rep contact us today at doyeaphotography@gmail.com. We need to have all Rep Sessions done by April 25th so don’t wait.
What is a Rep?
You come in and have a Rep Session. You’ll get some wallets to hand out to friends and classmates to promote Doyea Photography. For every friend you get to book with us you will receive a $25 in studio credit. This credit can be used for you’re full session, prints, wallets, collages, announcements, dry erase boards, and memory books. Your friend will also receive a $25 in studio credit for their own session, prints and/or gifts.
For the one Rep who promotes the most before October 1st there will be an additional bonus prize. That prize is an additional $100 studio credit.
I Meant To Do That!
Make no mistake, my work is unique! I have a style of my own and it is somewhat unconventional. My clients are usually looking for something fresh, stylish and more contemporary than what many “traditional” photographers offer.
That being said, there are some things you may notice when looking at my work that is different from what you might be accustomed to…
“Tight Crops” – This means super close close-ups where often the face fills most of the frame of the image. These images are about the eyes, and often the top of the head is not included in the image. I meant to do that!
“Not-So-Smiley”- So many of us have been brought up to believe that a smile is a requirement to make a great photo. So not true! I love a pensive look as much as a big grin. I meant to do that!
“Let’s Be Negative” – Negative space is when the subject is placed off to the side of an image and the rest of the image is empty—this is done for artistic impact. I meant to do that!
“Left of Center”- The most boring position for a subject in a photograph is smack dab in the middle! I know, I know, not what you always thought, right? Trust me! There is a little something in design called the Rule of Thirds that we photographers often employ to enhance visual interest.
The rule states that an image can be divided into nine equal parts by two equally spaced horizontal lines and two equally spaced vertical lines (like a tic-tac-toe board). The four points formed by the intersections of these lines can be used to align features in the photograph. Aligning a photograph with these points creates more tension, energy and interest in the photo than simply centering the feature would.
Hunh? Trust me, your child does not need to be right in the center of an image for it to be a good portrait! I meant to do that!
“The Light in the Eyes” The hallmark of good portrait photography is good lighting, and the hallmark of good lighting is something called a “catchlight,” – a reflection of light in the eyes. I love big catchlights! I purposely position my lights for the best and largest catchlights, especially for close-ups. Flip through any parenting or glamour magazine and look at the eyes—what do you see? Big bright catchlights! A lack of catchlights leaves the eyes looking flat, dull and lifeless. I meant to do that!
________________
This was well written by a fellow photographer and with her permission I was able to post it to my site. It is how I, and many photographers feel. It’s not just photos we take but art, a moment in time captured forever.
If you look at my work and like what you see in my galleries than you will love the images I capture for you. This is my style, my art.
Thanks
MODEL SEARCH…
We are looking to build our maternity portfolio. If you or anybody you know is expecting call us today.
This is a great way to put this most special time into memories that will last a lifetime.
All models will receive free sessions and free gifts for their time.
Minor problem with new blog…
Since I switched over I deleted the old blog because I thought everything was saved on the new one.
WRONG!
All the images disappeared so now I’ll have to fix all the images. This may take awhile and I’m not going to do all of them but I’ll get to as many as I can.
Thanks and check back soon.
UPDATE:
Well I fixed almost everything. There are some that I just deleted but we should be good now. So far I’m happy with the way the new one looks and I’m getting used to the different format on posting.
Introducing Our Referral Programs…
We wanted to do something special for our clients who speak highly of us and refer Doyea Photography to friends and family.
For every friend or family member that you get to book a session with us you will receive a $25 print credit.
For the friend or family member that books with us they will receive a complimentary 8×10 from their first session.
How it works - It’s pretty simple. After your session you will receive referral cards to hand out to your friends and family members. You may have as many as you like. If you run out contact us and we’ll get you more.
Now your friend or family member books a session with us. You receive your credit and they receive a complementary 8×10 from their session.
Added Bonus - For the client who promotes the most before October 1st there will be an additional bonus. That bonus will be an additional $100 print credit.
Policies -
Credit will only be given when new clients book.
When the person you gave the card to brings in their card and books their session your account will be credited for your future session.
Credits are good for future sessions only. Not good for past sessions.
There is a max of $100 credit that can be used on each future session; however you will bank the rest for other future sessions. The bonus may be used in addition to other credits. That means you’ll be able to save $200 of one order.
We wanted to do Seniors a little different.
